Daisy
I asked the daisy what it had to say
It stayed silent like God
A friend sent me a daisy today
Oh not a real one
Just a picture of one
Just the yellow face taking up the whole card
After looking deeply at the spiral and round centre
Out to the lined petals
I imagined the other part
The long green stem
And those leaves
A field to go with it on a sunny afternoon
Yes… and birds and bees
Kissing that face
And carrying legs of pollen home
To a buzzing hive somewhere in a hollow log
And long descriptions of where to find more
I asked if the daisy had anything to say
It stayed silent like God
