I awake from the tangled bed
and go outside
a bird leaving its nest
a snail forsaking it's shell
for a holiday
an ordinary insomniac
amid the growth chaos of garden and woods
recovering from the press of Saturday night
I am simply
an animal in pyjamas
sensing only the pale humidity
of the night and the slight
zephyrs that stir
the top of trees
