Nothing to do with Time

Now.  In this
body with its sure and current hands,
this minute's lips.

Not yesterday's skin,
same shade with fewer tattoos, not
tomorrow's promise

of willpower, not next month's
lesser curves and handles.
I do not want your smile

from a photo years old,
cannot ache
for the better man

you say you might become. Here
in this room, any space
where you nonchalantly stand,

the light across your face
is perfect. Toss away the watch
as you undress.
