In those days there were lions. Roaring from
behind the chests. And elephants. Always
helpful and melancholy. They grew onions
then. And chocolate. To please the mouth and
comfort the soul. And then, of course, the big
thing back then: the nightly singing. Usually
over there by the big lake. It was much warmer
then, so they used to wear their summer
clothes even in the dark hours. Light colourful
dresses. Straw hats. Pipes, smell of raspberry.
The golden, glowing fishes would surface and
illuminate their happy faces
